Buddies

Last weekend (yes this post is an entire week late due to my crazy work schedule), Wy-man and I met our good friends Jaiden and Rhonda at Family Wellness for a swimming play date. Man did we have a blast!

The boys played for almost 2 hours. Splashing, giggling and having a good ol' time, while us mama's got to catch up on some much needed girl talk!
Wy-man even took Thomas the Train on a 'boat ride' around the pool. Then like all boys...they had to crash into each other. ;-)
I love watching Wy-man's friendships grow. Their innocence and acceptance at that age incomparable. And seeing the smiles like this solidify why I am a mama - and why play dates are SO important no matter how busy life gets. I could learn a lesson or two from these carefree boys.
True friends should be cherished no matter how young or old! Thanks for the fun times Rhonda and Jaiden!

That's Amore...

Wy-man loves to help make dinner, and unfortunately I don't always get home from work earlier enough to spend two hours making the meal. But today I told myself that no matter how long it took, Wy-man would make the entire meal. So we chose homemade pizza...and man was it a blast.

He poured the water into the dough all by himself (and didn't spill a drop).
He even stirred with with gusto!
Patted the dough like no body's business...
And had the doughy hands to prove it! The OCD then came out as he placed each sausage on the pizza one by one. Then mama taught him how to sprinkle the sausage all around.
The next step was spreading the cheese. Once again, we started small but quickly progressed to large piles of cheese! After all, that is Wy-man's favorite food.
And he was caught red handed sneaking a mouthful!
Wy-man was VERY proud of the finished product. I love seeing the joy on his face when he accomplishes a task!
Of course we then had to watch the pizza bake for a while...
...and then he wanted to take photos of mama. (Please ignore how tired I look...it has been a busy week.)
And when Dad-d got home, we were ready to eat our scrumptious meal. But before we started he took a couple photos to document this momentous occasion.
After all the hard work, it was 7:30 and we finally were able to sit down and enjoy our yummy meal. Wy-man and I had a blast cooking and spending quality time together. This is my vow to cook together at least one night a week. I am one lucky girl to have a lil' man that likes to spend time with his mama!

Mr. Helpful

As many of your know, my hubby is a clean freak when it comes to the kitchen (and I love that about him). And I think I am happy to report, Wy-man is having some of the same tendencies.

After dinner he decided he wanted to do the dishes, which then led to scrubbing the sink...

I thought it was so cute I quickly pulled out my cell phone and started taping him. (Please excuse my giggles as he decides to scrub the sink.)

He then ended the fun adventure with infamous 'soap beard'.
Man...my lil' man is growin' up!

Valentine's Day Fun

Wow, life has been quite hectic in the Davidson household and I have neglected to make any posts lately. I promised myself that I wouldn't post until I had all holiday decorations taken down. (I know...it's the end of Feb. and I am embarrassed to say that I am just getting my Christmas tree down.) ;-(

But now that it is down and nicely put away (as of yesterday), I can spend a little time updating - from our Mexico trip, to Wyatt's Words of the Week and many other happenings in our lives. So let's get started....
----

I love the opportunity to throw a party, design invitations and go all out on decorations, so Wy-man's V-day party at daycare was no different. This was the first year he truly understands about giving gifts and I couldn't wait for him to pass them out to his classmates.
I found plastic candy hearts and filled them with candy (I debated on going the healthy route with fruit snacks or raisins...but then decided "What the heck, let's give them a little candy.") He has 16 kids in his class so each of his friends got a different saying and a personalized Valentine complete with Wy-man's photo.
I was absolutely in love with his Valentines and he was the hit of the party...actually the talk of the daycare. No sooner did I walk in to pick him up that night, the girls at the front desk were sharing with me how much they liked his Valentine cards. So I was one proud mama! I mean...who could resist this smile?!
Happy Valentine's Day - 2011!

Outside Fun

The weather was absolutely gorgeous this weekend so Wy-man and I took full advantage of getting outside for an hour or so. (Plus, Dad-d had the flu, so I couldn't wait to escape from the house.)

The snow is probably up to Wy-man's waste, so it's a good thing he isn't too heavy and can walk without sinking too much, but it still gave him a good workout. He couldn't wait to help shovel thinking he was going to get rid of all the snow in our yard.
When he got bored with shoveling, he busted out his beloved bubble mower. Although he was saddened that the bubbles were used up during the summer, he still had a blast moving any snow/ice/water mixture he could find.
He even found time to visit the neighbor. (Boy is he social...I wonder where he gets that?!) Then we worked on a snowman...Okay, I should be realistic. Mama built the snowman while Wy-man did whatever he felt like.
But our finished product was quite the masterpiece! (We had to snap photos fast because our snowman was melting quite fast in the blistering 40 degree heat we were experiencing.) ;-)
Wy-man even put his arm around him to pose for a photo opp. (This never happens.)
And they even shared a hug!
Then we were off to sled, except we only have an inflatable tube...so Mama was inventive and hooked the dog's leash to the handle. And we were off! Running through the neighbor's yard, giggling and having a blast (until Mama needed her asthma inhaler). ;-)
(And he's only wearing his helment because he wanted to ride his scooter prior to sledding...so no, I wasn't worried about head injuries during the sled ride.)
What a wonderful afternoon we had spending quality time in the snow and taking in the wonderful fresh air!

Sledding in a Winter Wonderland

We have been talking about sledding for a while now and today was the day we decided to give in to Wy-man. So we blew up the tube and let him jump on it while Dad-d and I were getting things ready. (Of course he had to jump in his big boy undies!) Then he found his snow boots and had to put them on! But he did it all by himself (even on the correct feet).
Once we got all suited up, he helped us bring the tube down to the entry way.
And we set out to sled. It was perfect because there wasn't anyone else on the hill...but we soon figured out why. We were the ONLY crazy ones willing to sled in the blaming 9 degree weather. (No that wasn't a typo...it was only 9 degrees out.) People were driving by giving us the craziest looks. ;-)
Wy-man loved his first ride down the hill with Dad-d and he even made the long trek back up!
Then it was Mama's turn!
Wy-man took one more run with Dad-d and then we headed back to the car. Wy-man wasn't ready to leave even though we were all frozen popsicles. But he soon obliged so we came home and promptly enjoyed some 'choco hot' (hot chocolate) with marshmallows.
Even though it was a very short trip and was cold beyond belief, we had a wonderful time adding more memories to the memory book! We truly are blessed!

Big Boy Undies...

Well...my little baby is growin' up. That is SO hard for me to say. I am so happy yet sad at the same time. I no longer have a baby...instead an independent, outspoken toddler with a mind of his own.

We have been messing around with this potty training stuff since the summer but with no real progress. He became super interested in going potty on the potty back in July so I thought this process was going to be a breeze. But it hasn't been. He acts interested...then not interested.

So I decided it was time to bite the bullet - I had a 3 day weekend and tons of snow outside (so no reason to leave the house). Why not spend it getting this little man free from diapers?

I bought some Thomas Big Boy Undies thinking they would do the trick. Wy-man wouldn't want Thomas to be sad that he got wet, would he?! So I busted them out and Wy-man's new found freedom was SO exciting. He couldn't wait to lounge around and read his Zoo book... Or even ride his horsie! He even went poopy on the potty and had to read a book during the process. (I am convinced this is why all men take a newspaper or magazine into the bathroom with them. It starts at a young age.) ;-)
We were off to a great start - even playing outside in the snow he didn't have an accident. But then...we had 4 accidents in a row and I was ready to give up.

But I decided to give it another shot. So yesterday I found this Potty Train chart. It was PERFECT fitting into our train theme!
What better solution than a Train chart to go along with the Thomas Big Boy undies. We earned 5 stickers yesterday and had only 1 accident. :-) I thought..."This is it! We are done with diapers..."

Until today...we are now refusing to use the potty. Who knows. Maybe we started too soon, but this boy is smart enough and is demanding Big Boy Undies yet at the same time doesn't want to go potty unless he's in the mood. He sure is strong willed...he doesn't get that from his mama, does he?! I am just not sure this mama is strong enough to continue. Only time will tell. Wish us luck!
